What is an MX Record?
There are several kinds of DNS Records. One of them is the MX Record, which is basically a file that explains how an email should be delivered to the right address. If you want to know more about what an MX Record is, click here.
Setting MX Records for Email Exchange 2016
If your domain name is not with Crazy Domains, or you have another Web Hosting provider, you must change the MX Record at the hosting company where your domain’s name servers point.
If the domain name you are using with our hosted Email Exchange is NOT pointing to our DNS servers, you will need to add the following to your domain name’s DNS configuration for your email services to work correctly:
MX Record for Exchange (AU):
MX Record for Exchange EU(UK):
How to Add MX Records
To update your MX record via Account Manager, follow the instructions found in the link below:
To update your MX record via Hosting Manager, follow the instructions below:
- Log in to your Hosting Manager.
- Under Email, click MX Entry.
- In the Destination field, enter the appropriate MX record.
- Click Add New Record once done.
To update your MX record via Exchange Manager, follow the instructions below:
- Log in to your Exchange Manager.
- Under System, click on the Domains icon.
- Select the domain name you wish to update records for.
- Click Edit DNS zone records then click Add record.
- Select MX from the drop-down list under Record Type.
- In the Record Data field, enter the appropriate MX record.
- Click Save once done.
Congratulations! You just updated your MX Record for Exchange 2016.
Note: MX Records are applied immediately but may take up to 2 hours to propagate across the Internet. If you have created your MX Records and have seen no change, please wait for this propagation. Otherwise, it is advised that you contact us.
